Web developer principles | Zasady web developera

EN: Today I decided to write about something very annoying, from the perspective of Web Developer. When viewing websites - created by the existing for a long time web designer and developer firms, or beginners - I very often find (if not to say – always), the errors in the HTML or style sheets (CSS). I wonder whether it is a routine, or simply neglect, lack of time. Yes, check the code for each page takes a long time, but such tests should be carried out! That we - Web developers - were taught in colleges and universities, such as medical students an ethics of doctors!

I met a few times with the opinion of the professionals, "what does it matter, after all, customers have no idea about these errors." To tell the truth, those opinions made me speechless.

Yes, customers may not have a clue, but developers know, so why ignore some of the customers and sell him a defective product? One might ask, "whether these errors in the code are important?" The answer is - yes: by such errors website may not appear, the entire layout can be "spread", and in different browser (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari, etc) the website may look completely different, and should look the same.

Of course there are situations when a Web developer has no influence to correct errors in a code, for example, when code is imported to the site, as so-called <iframe>.

There is also a large group of people devoted to creating pages, as a hobby, and do not have basic knowledge about the encoding (using popular programs for creating pages, or currently popular software CMS - Content Management System). It is worse when these people offer their services to companies and cannot test the site in terms of errors in the code.

Everybody should also have basic knowledge in the field of coding when using the CMS. Therefore, my dear clients, before you choose your web designer and developer, well look for the one.

I, as a Web designer & developer, sticking to my principles learned that I will do everything to ensure that both: the customer is satisfied, and I as well (I do not do the client a fool). In other words, the customer gets the product tested for errors, browsers, etc.

PL: Dzisiaj postanowiłam napisać o czymś bardzo irytującym, z punktu widzenia Web Developera.  Przeglądając strony internetowe – tworzone przez istniejące już na rynku firmy Web designerskie i developerskie lub też dopiero, co powstałe – natykam się bardzo często, żeby nie powiedzieć zawsze, na błędy w języku HTML lub arkuszach stylów (CSS). Zastanawiam się czy jest to rutyna, niedbalstwo czy po prostu, brak czasu. Owszem sprawdzenie kodów poszczególnych stron zajmuje sporo czasu, jednak takie testy powinno się przeprowadzać! Tego nas – Web developerów – uczono na studiach, jak lekarzy etyki lekarskiej!

Spotkałam się kiedyś z takimi opiniami profesjonalistów: „a co to ma za znaczenie, przecież klienci nie mają o tych błędach pojęcia”. Prawdę mówiąc takie opinie „odbierają mi mowę”.

Tak klienci, być może nie mają pojęcia, ale my developerzy tak, więc czemu niektórzy lekceważą klienta i sprzedają mu wadliwy produkt? Ktoś mógłby zapytać: „a czy te błędy w kodach mają znaczenie?” Odpowiedź brzmi - tak: przez takie błędy strona może się nie wyświetlać, cały układ strony może się „rozsypać” i w każdej przeglądarce internetowej (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Opera, Chrome, Safari itd.) może wyglądać zupełnie inaczej, a powinna wyglądać tak samo.

Oczywiście są sytuacje, kiedy Web developer nie ma wpływu, aby poprawić wykazane błędy w kodzie, np. importując na stronę mapę, jako tzw. <iframe>.

Jest też spora grupa ludzi, którzy zajmują się kreowaniem stron, jako hobby, i nie mają podstawowej wiedzy na temat kodowania (używają popularnych programów do tworzenia stron, lub obecnie popularnych programów CMS - Content Management System). Gorzej jest, gdy tacy ludzie oferują swoje usługi firmom i nie potrafią przetestować strony pod względem błędów w kodach.

Korzystając z CMS też należałoby mieć podstawy wiedzy z zakresu kodowania. Dlatego moi drodzy klienci, zanim wybierzecie swojego Web designera i developera, dobrze poszukajcie.

Ja, jako Web designer i developer, trzymam się swoich wyuczonych zasad, że zrobię wszystko, aby zarówno klient był zadowolony, jak i ja - czyli nie robię klienta w „balona”. Innymi słowy, klient dostanie produkt przetestowany pod względem błędów, przeglądarek itd.
